Curiosity and Creativity

“I guess, I ended up finding music to pour my curiosity into. It was my creative outlet and therapy at the same time.” Missy Higgins

It is natural for humans to be curious. Curiosity empowers us to create and discover new things and it enables us to keep striving to find better ways to accomplish what we want. Without curiosity our lives would become extremely dull. It’s what keeps our interests alive, keeps us wondering and guessing, and continuously searching for what the world has to offer. It leads to us gaining new knowledge and setting forth into undiscovered territory.

Curiosity and creativity are inherently linked in our society. Our creativity thrives on a sense of curiosity and wonder but similarly, it could be said that our creativity drives us to become more curious. Whatever way it is, it’s clear that both curiosity and creativity play an important part in our world and they are important things for an individual to have. Curiosity is essential in creating success because it causes us to ask questions, to learn, and develop new skills – creating a more active mind. Curiosity fuels our interests, helps us to keep pushing forward, and it motivates us to keep discovering new things. So being curious will make us a more energetic and motivated person. This is something that is prevalent in creative people as it is their curiosity that inspires and stimulates them to create.

Without great minds filled with a deep curiosity we would not have made such strides in any area of knowledge. Science, arts, humanities, and more would not have progressed if it were not for us developing and advancing due to our innate curiosity, and our desire to explore. Scientific discoveries would not have been made, great stories would never have been written, and breathtaking cities would never have been built without curiosity. Albert Einstein once said, ‘ I have no special talent, I am only passionately curious.’ The world needs curious people like that to inspire, create, and discover.

Having an outlet for creativity is important for the state of our minds. It gives us a chance to escape from our stresses or anxieties which can help us achieve a healthier mind. It also gives us a change to focus on the things we enjoy, which undoubtably creates a happier mindset. Creativity doesn’t always have to be viewed in a literal and artistic way. Academic or practical applications can be just as creative. It is about finding new ways to explore or create in whatever you are passionate about. It’s just about having a way to express yourself in and it is rewarding to satiate your curiosities, no matter what they are.

Take this opportunity to think about what drives you. What is it that keeps you going? What are you curious about? Think creatively and find a way to further your curiosities, it could lead to something wonderful.

“being curious will make us a more energetic and motivated person.”
